Obituary:
FLEENOR, Joyce E. Fields, 55, of Midlothian. She was the daughter of Frank Fields of Washington Township, N.J., and the late Jane Carol Fields. Joyce is survived by her husband, Johnny Jerome; daughter Jessica; and son, Kyle of Midlothian; two sisters, Susan Barone (Mike) and Anne Rutkowski (Steve) of Washington Township; mother-in-law, Hazel Fleenor, brother-in-law, Jayde Fleenor (Debbie); and three sisters-in-law, Jerie Fleenor, Judy Harless (Jimmy) and Glenna Fleiner, all of Bristol, Va.; and 10 nieces and nephews. A native of Gloucester, N.J., Joyce earned a degree from Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pa. She taught for 32 years at Ladysmith Elementary, now Lewis and Clark Elementary. Aside from teaching, she loved collecting shells at the beach, gardening, and her two pets, Jack and Jill. She was best known for her smile and spunky, upbeat personality. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, August 6 at the Ashland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 301 S. James St., Ashland, Va. 23005. A memorial service will be held at the church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 7. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joyce's memory to Ashland Christian Church or to the Joyce Fleenor Memorial Scholarship Fund at Lewis and Clark Elementary School, 18101 Clark & York Blvd., Ruther Glen, Va. 22546.
