When I had to put down my first dog, Joe, I can recall coming home from work on the subway which ran along the Kennedy Expressway and seeing a vision of Joe running in the grass along the side. I think it was God's way of telling me that there is a place in heaven for all the people we love and also our pets who are more than pets but friends. Cy is running too. Bertha

I believe living beings find each other for a reason. It's what keeps peace in the world. The need for each other is just understood between the two. Cy was saved and he knew it and he gave even more back to his family then most humans can understand. It's not the first or last breath we take that matters, it's the the amazing one's in between we get to share with someone we love. Love~Auntie Shar, Gracie & Jade.

Although I never officially "met" Cy, it seemed as though I knew him personally because of his family; Susan, Jenni, John and Josh. Their love for him was evident in their emails, their stories, and their pictures of this beautiful Border Collie. Cy's story was one of tragedy and hope; being lost and then found; loving and being loved unconditionally; filled with smiles and tears; leaving this world for the Rainbow Bridge yet remaining close in spirit. Because a young man named Josh saw this "special needs" dog on a website a few years back, he convinced his family that they had to get this dog - and they did! Cy was completely accepted and loved by this incredible family despite his physical limitations. Josh and his family saw beyond Cy's outward appearance and looked lovingly into the very being of this handsome dog. And Cy returned to this remarkable family his companionship, his antics, his loyalty, his love, and his smile! The pain of losing such a wonderful pet is not understood by those who do not own pets. But I understand how Jenni, Josh, John and Susan must feel - the emptiness and the lonliness are probably overwhelming. But please know that your family, and Cy, continue to touch many lives, both human and animals, who remain behind even though Cy is at the Bridge. For one, I am eternally grateful to Cy, the dog I never met, because he was partially responsible for changing my life. There is a "special needs" horse, named Kipper, who is now in the loving care of Josh and Josh's family. For without the love, guidance, and intervention on Kipper's behalf, his future may have been very grim. My Kipper was saved from an uncertain destiny until I received an email from Susan about a place named Salem Ranch and a young man who had seen Kipper's picture - the same young man who had seen Cy's picture. So, Susan, Josh, John, and Jenni, please accept my condolensces on the loss of your beloved Cy. But know that he lives on in the hearts, minds, and spirits of so many he left behind including me!

I was part of the MidAmerica Boosters, when Cy first came into rescue. He had on a collar from an invisible fence, and semi-freshly stitched eye injury. I spent hours on the phone with every vet office that would talk to me within a 50 mile radius of Homer Glen (where he was found). Then spend countless hours on the phone with the underground fence company trying to trace his owner from the collar's ID number. Each search was a dead end because he truly was destine to find a place in your heart. I am glad that he did.

I miss you very, very much Cy but you will remain in my heart forever. You brought me many smiles and much laughter. You will always be my Angel. Love, Mom
